Straight Shoot Unfiltered - SmackDown Review (September 12, 2025) 👇
📍Scope Arena - Norfolk, Virginia
🎙Vic Joseph & Booker T. on the call
We’re officially on the road to Wrestlepalooza, and SmackDown delivered one of those shows that just flows. From Brock Lesnar causing chaos, to Sami Zayn continuing his open challenge, to a main event that felt PPV-worthy … Norfolk got a night to remember.
Opening Segment - Brock Lesnar & R-Truth
SmackDown kicked off with Brock Lesnar in the house, but instead of Cena, we got … R-Truth. And let me tell you, this was hilarious. Truth cutting a promo about being “Ron Cena” and trying to defend his “older brother” against Brock had the crowd eating out of his hand. The eventual F5 (and Brock splitting his pants) was a perfect blend of comedy and brutality.
⭐️ Rating: 3.5/5 - Fun, creative way to get Brock heat without burning through a big star.
Sami Zayn’s U.S. Title Open Challenge - Sami Zayn vs. Rey Fenix
This is what SmackDown needs every week. Sami channeling his inner Cena with these open challenges, and tonight we got Rey Fenix showing out on the big stage. Corkscrew dives, tight near falls, and Fenix giving Sami one of his best WWE matches so far. The closing sequence with the Blue Thunder Bomb and Helluva Kick was chef’s kiss.
⭐️ Rating: 4.5/5 - Match of the night. Zayn’s title run could end up being special if this keeps up.
Solo Sikoa Promo
Solo reminded us he’s still dangerous, cutting a strong promo about sacrifices and family. He’s lost everything … and that means he’s about to fight like he has nothing to lose.
⭐️ Rating: 3.5/5 - Short but effective. Solo’s best mic work yet.
Backstage Segment - Giulia, Kiana James, & B-Fab
This wasn’t long, but it advanced the storylines in the women’s division. Giulia jumped B-Fab and Michin made the save, planting seeds for future matchups.
⭐️ Rating: 3/5 - Not essential, but it kept the women’s midcard moving.
Women’s Championship - Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Jade Cargill
This was better than their SummerSlam outing. Stratton looked crisp, Jade brought the power, and the barricade spot was a nice escalation. The double count out wasn’t the cleanest finish, but with Nia Jax inserting herself after, it’s clear we’re heading toward a triple threat. For a TV match, this worked.
⭐️ Rating: 3.25/5 - Imperfect but entertaining, and the crowd cared.
Aldis, Chelsea Green, Alba Fyre, Miz, & Carmelo Hayes
WWE’s juggling multiple stories here: Green and Fyre demanding a shot, Miz trying to steer Hayes, and Carmelo putting himself in Sami’s crosshairs. It’s a lot, but it keeps the midcard buzzing with energy.
⭐️ Rating: 3.5/5 - Good connective tissue. Melo/Zayn has real potential.
Cena vs. Lesnar: Retrospective Package
WWE always nails video packages, but this one was special. Seeing OVW footage of a young Cena and Lesnar training side by side, then hearing the story of their parallel rises? Goosebumps. WWE knows how to build a big fight feel.
⭐️ Rating: 4/5 - Excellent production that adds weight to Wrestlepalooza.
Mysterio Family Drama
Rey hyping up Worlds Collide while Dominik runs his mouth is classic family storytelling. Adding Finn Balor into the mix only heightens the drama. Norfolk booed Dom out of the building, as expected.
⭐️ Rating: 3.75/5 - Solid segment that set up Dom’s big test.
Main Event - Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton
Pay-per-view level match on free TV? YES. Orton’s selling of the knee was perfect, Drew was ruthless, and the crowd was fully invested. The finishing stretch with the RKO tease into a Claymore was fantastic. Post-match, Cody Rhodes running down to confront Drew was the cherry on top. Wrestlepalooza feels massive.
⭐️ Rating: 4/5 - Big fight feel, great work, great setup for Cody vs. Drew.
Final Take:
SmackDown this week felt focused and exciting. You had a killer U.S. Title match, Lesnar wrecking things, continued women’s storylines, and a main event that delivered. WWE is stacking the deck for Wrestlepalooza, and this show built that hype beautifully.
⭐️ Overall Show Rating: 8.5/10 - SmackDown gave fans a little bit of everything and kept the road to Wrestlepalooza red hot.

WWE x AAA: Worlds Collide Review 👇
📍 Las Vegas, Nevada – September 12, 2025
For the second time under the Worlds Collide banner, WWE & AAA joined forces for a supershow that celebrated lucha libre and sports entertainment in equal measure. On Mexican Independence Day weekend, Vegas turned into a lucha party - and trust me, this show delivered.
We kicked things off with dignitaries from WWE and AAA honoring Antonio Peña and Joaquín Roldán, the national anthems, and then Penta soaking up that “Cero Miedo” energy from the Vegas crowd. His promo hyping the Mega Championship felt authentic, passionate, and set the tone for the night.
⭐️ Rating: 3.5/5 - Perfect cultural opener that reminded us this was more than just another wrestling show.
La Parka, Mascarita Sagrada, Laredo Kid & Octagon Jr. vs. Cruz Del Toro, Joaquin Wilde, Lince Dorado & Mini Abismo Negro
Absolute chaos, but the good kind. From Octagon and Lince’s slick exchanges, to Mascarita stealing the spotlight with that insane flying rana on the floor, to La Parka bringing the entertainment factor - this was lucha at its most fun. The pace was wild, the crowd loved it, and Mascarita pinning Abismo to win gave it the perfect finish.
⭐️ Rating: 3.5/5 - High-energy opener that’s hard to follow.
Natalya vs. Faby Apache (Reina de Reinas #1 Contender’s Match)
Two veterans slowing the pace down after the lucha frenzy. Nattie worked MMA-style, Faby fought with grit, and their striking exchange in the middle brought the fans to life. Nattie stole the win with a crafty pin, but the post-match tension shows this isn’t over.
⭐️ Rating: 2.5/5 - Solid change of pace with room for a rematch.
AAA World Tag Team Championship - Pagano & Psycho Clown (c) vs. Kofi Kingston & Grayson Waller (w/Xavier Woods)
This one surprised me. Kofi and Waller showed real chemistry as a team, but Pagano & Psycho Clown brought the chaos. The crowd loved the wild dives and Mexican Destroyers, and just when it looked like New Day’s crew might steal it, the champs pulled it off. Post-match, the Wyatt Sicks invaded and left both champions in ruins - one of the most shocking moments of the night.
⭐️ Rating: 3/5 - Fun tag match with a hot angle after.
Finn Balor & Roxanne Perez vs. Mr. Iguana & Lola Vice
Pure fun. Iguana’s entrance is one of the best in wrestling right now, and the comedy with Demonito had JBL losing his mind on commentary. Lola Vice and Roxanne carried the pace with crisp exchanges, and the crowd popped big for Lola getting the pin.
⭐️ Rating: 3.25/5 - Not a technical masterpiece, but entertaining from bell to bell.
AAA Latin American Championship - El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. (c) vs. Dragon Lee vs. Ethan Page vs. JD McDonagh
Four talented guys with less than ten minutes - and they crammed in everything. Dragon Lee was explosive, JD played the spoiler, Ethan Page showed his versatility, and Wagner came out looking like a beast. Wagner Driver sealed the deal.
⭐️ Rating: 3.75/5 - Short but action-packed, and Wagner felt like a true star.
Main Event - AAA Mega Championship – El Hijo del Vikingo (c) vs. Dominik Mysterio
This was the story-driven spectacle we were waiting for. Vikingo dazzled with his athleticism, but the Judgment Day interference, Rey Mysterio’s conflicted role, and Dominik’s antics made this pure sports entertainment. The crowd actually booed Vikingo and rallied behind Dirty Dom, which tells you how far Dom has come. The loaded mask spot, the frog splash, and Dom holding the belt high made history in Las Vegas. Rey reluctantly putting the belt around his son’s waist was the emotional gut punch to close the night.
⭐️ Rating: 3.5/5 - A little messy, but an unforgettable finish. Dominik Mysterio is officially AAA Mega Champion.
Final Thoughts:
Worlds Collide delivered exactly what it promised - WWE stars meshing with AAA’s finest to create a night of chaos, culture, and history. From Mascarita’s heroics, to Nattie and Faby representing the veterans, to Pagano & Psycho Clown getting wrecked by the Wyatt Sicks, to Dominik Mysterio shocking the world - this show had something for every fan.
⭐️ Overall Show Rating: 8/10 - A vibrant, chaotic, and memorable supershow that made Las Vegas feel like the center of the wrestling world.
