NXT Review — Sept. 23, 2025 (Orlando)
By MrTeshk — Straight Shoot Unfiltered
NXT kept the momentum rolling with the TNA invasion taking center stage. Oba Femi and Trick Williams delivered a main event that felt massive, the closing riot injected the crossover with real urgency, and Ricky Saints finally got a spotlight profile that made him feel like the brand’s heartbeat.
Oba Femi vs. Trick Williams — TNA Invasion Chaos
Segment: In-ring face-to-face
Match Rating: ⭐⭐⭐✨
This one felt huge from the opening bell. Oba’s raw power versus Trick’s explosive timing gave it that classic unstoppable force versus immovable object vibe. Every near fall spiked anticipation, and TNA talent planted in the crowd was a brilliant touch that foreshadowed what was coming.
Santana’s interference brought the DQ we expected, but the post-match pull-apart riot stole the show. NXT and TNA rosters brawling gave this crossover its bite. The closing visual of Oba ripping the title back from Ricky Saints while locking eyes with him was a money shot.
MrTeshk note: Both Trick and Oba need clean finishes soon. They’re too hot to live on non-finishes forever.
Jacy Jayne & Lola Vice — Women’s Title Build
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Not bad, but not the spark it needed. Lola finally showed confidence on the mic, proving she’s more than flash. Jacy played the smug heel champ well, but the exchange never hit top gear. The spinning backfist was a strong closer.
Lainey Reid def. Candice LeRae — Women’s Speed Contender
Match Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
This was a sprint that moved too fast for its own good. Timing slips hurt execution, but Lainey got the big win and the staredown with Sol Ruca officially set up their match. The segment landed better than the wrestling.
Jordynne Grace def. Arianna Grace — Weaponized Steel Cage Announced
Grade: Match Rating: ⭐⭐⭐✨
The match was short, the post-match was the point. A Weaponized Steel Cage for Grace vs. Monroe at No Mercy is the perfect stipulation for a feud that’s been violent and messy. The escalation felt earned.
Joe Hendry & Chase U vs. DarkState
Match Rating: ⭐⭐⭐✨
A solid tag showcase. Chase U’s young guys keep improving, Hendry’s charisma is undeniable, and DarkState looked like a force. Simple, clean TV that gave the champs momentum.
Ethan Page / Tavion Heights — Wagner Mask Swerve
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐✨
Finally, some juice in this feud. Tavion pulling the Wagner mask reveal got the crowd to pop, and Page’s cocky reactions made it click. A fun twist that set a clearer road to No Mercy.
Ricky Saints Profile
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Excellent production. Saints’ New Orleans roots, resilience, and emotional ties gave him real identity. For the first time, he felt like the heart of NXT. His stare-down with Oba in the main event capped the night perfectly.
The Misses
Myles Borne def. Lexis King — Lights Out Match
Match Rating: ⭐⭐✨
This match fell flat. The darkness gimmick hurt more than it helped, making it hard to follow and draining the impact. Borne got his payoff win, but the stipulation dragged the whole segment.
Josh Briggs Promo
Rating: ⭐⭐✨
The intent was clear: bitter heel who doesn’t need fan approval. But the delivery came off whiny, not dangerous. The tools are there, but Briggs needs his in-ring to do the talking.
Fatal Influence Drama + Jazmyn Nyx Written Off?
Backstage angle saw Jazmyn Nyx left down and out by an unknown attacker. Speculation points to Lainey Reid as the culprit, Fallon Henley possibly next, suggesting Fatal Influence may be dissolving piece by piece.
Word is Nyx’s contract could be expiring near year’s end, which makes the timing of this “injury” angle suspicious. If true, creative may already be moving on.
Teshk’s thoughts: Fatal Influence’s downfall could be more reality than storyline, making this one of NXT’s more intriguing subplots.
MVPs of the Night
⭐ TNA ROSTER — This invasion gave early 2001 WCW vs. WWF vibes. #tnavsnxt
⭐⭐ Oba Femi — A true powerhouse presence who elevated the main event.
⭐⭐⭐ Ricky Saints — Finally feels like the emotional core of NXT.
Final Take
This week was not perfect, but it was purposeful. The TNA invasion finally had bite. Saints’ profile gave him depth, and midcard feuds moved clearly toward No Mercy. If NXT cuts down the over-gimmicks and gives clean finishes to its hottest stars, the brand’s momentum will keep climbing.
Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Final Word: Tonight, the invasion had teeth. If Heat Wave leans into that fire while delivering decisive title matches, NXT could come out of this stretch looking stronger than it has in months. And seriously … keep the lights on next time.

Darrion’s Drop: The Plane Ride From Hell
The “Plane Ride From Hell” in 2002 was not a road story. It was a disaster in the sky. What should have been a routine charter flight back from Europe turned into a drunken circus that exposed the ugliest side of wrestling culture.
Curt Hennig vs. Brock Lesnar: A mid-air scuffle that nearly smashed into the emergency exit.
Michael Hayes: Out cold, ponytail hacked off.
Scott Hall: So intoxicated he had to be carried off, leading to his release.
Ric Flair: Accused of exposing himself and harassing flight attendants — allegations that still haunt his legacy.
WWE scrambled to bury the fallout, releasing talent and hoping the story would fade. It never did. Vice’s Dark Side of the Ring brought it roaring back, reminding everyone that the so-called “boys will be boys” culture was toxic, reckless, and dangerous.
🔥 The Drop?
The “Plane Ride From Hell” was not wild wrestling lore. It was a line in the sand. It showed how far the locker room could fall when power, booze, and ego were given free reign. The story still echoes today because it is a reminder of what happens when there is no accountability at 30,000 feet.

I.C.Y.M.I.
WrestleMania 43 is going global. WWE has announced the first-ever WrestleMania outside North America will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2027, and while Triple H made it official in Las Vegas, the fan backlash was immediate.
Our new video breaks down why Saudi Arabia won out over London, Paris, or Tokyo, the awkward press conference, the negative reaction within 24 hours, and the payday rumors for legends. We also look at what this could mean for the future of WrestleMania in global markets.
Watch now and tell us: Should WrestleMania be in Saudi Arabia, or should London, Paris, or Tokyo have gotten it first?
